Seminar Description
Interpreting the Scriptures: A Concise Study on Hermeneutics is a practical teaching resource designed to equip serious students of God’s Word with the knowledge needed to understand the meaning of the Bible. Dr. Mike presents nine straightforward, easy-to-understand chapters on the basic principles of hermeneutics, the proper interpretation of Scripture, and its application to the life of the believer. The primary focus of this seminar is not simply how to read the Bible, but how to study it using sound biblical and theological methods of interpretation. It begins with the historical context of Scripture and culminates in an examination of the unity of the Bible’s 66 books. The Bible was written in three different languages, across three continents, by approximately 40 authors. Including shepherds, kings, scholars, prophets, priests, and others, over a period of roughly 1,500 years. These remarkable characteristics make the Bible a truly unique book. Despite its diverse authorship, historical settings, and literary styles, it presents one unified message concerning God’s purpose. Scripture contains various literary forms, including historical narratives, laws, poetry and psalms, prophetic writings, sermons and teachings, epistles or letters, and apocalyptic literature concerning the end times.

In Christian Psychology 101: How Your Mind Affects Your Attitude and Emotions, readers are reminded of the message found in Philippians: “Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ, who, being in the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage. Rather, He made Himself of no reputation, taking the very nature of a servant and being made in human form.” This seminar contributes to the study of the mind and human behavior from a biblical perspective. Topics range from the relationship between the mind and emotions to the importance of rapid eye movement, or R.E.M., sleep. Each chapter provides detailed information on a specific theme or issue while presenting biblical perspectives on the field of psychology.
